CEM’S BAYANI HEADS IEEE SMART VILLAGE IN MALAWI
Community Energy Malawi’s (CEM) Country Director, Edgar Kapiza Bayani, is now heading the country’s IEEE Smart Village (ISV), Power and Energy Society (PES) and International Smart Village Program (ISV) in Malawi. Among others, his role includes mobilising membership for the organizations. Those targeted are student engineers, engineers, entrepreneurs and development oriented people.
On his newfound role, Bayani said that in mobilising membership, it will bring together like-minded people who will contribute to the growth of the Renewable Energy innovations in Malawi.
“I urge fellow Malawians, keen on innovating engineering solutions that help solve community needs in energy and other fields to become members,” he said.
He also added that he has been a member since 2016. Through this, he has formed important networks across the world on Renewable Energy projects. Bayani says that the success of CEM’s flagship 80 Kilowatt Sitolo Solar Minigrid project in Mchinji is as a result of knowledge and experience gained as member of IEEE SV, PES and ISV. This included the visit to Sitolo of IEEE SV founder, Dr. Robin Podmore, a year ago.
